Istanbul Price is Right

As a kid I watched an obscene amount of television. Ironic considering while shopping for furniture and appliances for our home here my husband and I didn’t stop for a second to consider a television. I suppose I managed to curb my television addiction at some point, but despite that I’m sure I’ve watched more episodes of the Price is Right than I’d like to own up to. I think as a child I thought Bob Barker was my friend. At any rate, wanna play a Price is Right game?

4 tomatoes, 1 kilo of broccoli, 3 kilos of carrots, fresh village butter, 1 bunch parsley, 1 bunch green onions, 1 radish, 1 kilo of red, green and yellow bell peppers, 1 kilo of spinach, 1 kilo of oranges, 1 kilo apples

Okay, here we go. Guess how much this cost me? I bought it all at the neighborhood pazar which is a must for getting the best deals! (Attention mamas soon to be moving here: hopefully this might give you an idea what to expect out of your grocery budget.)

Whoever guessed 25 lira which is about $14.15 and 3,000 Hungarian forints wins the new Mercedes!

Well, I should confess I gave a sweet boy downstairs 1 lira to haul the lot up 4 flights of stairs for me.

Next question is what’s for dinner? I suppose I better start chopping.
